This Week at PJ's Lager House

THURSDAY JUNE 12- 9 P.M. - $5
SLEEPY KITTY, UP, AND THE HE BOPS

SLEEPY KITTY- "For fans of Sleigh Bells — but sub in post-grunge jangle for noisecore." - Entertainment Weekly

THE HE BOPS- The He Bops began as an all-male 3 piece Cyndi Lauper/Clash mash-up cover band. 5 years later they've finished up their 3rd album of original material featuring short, post-punk inspired songs of love, loss, and criticism of contemporary culture. Live performances can be fun and furious with a heavy dose of storytelling to string the songs together.

FRIDAY JUNE 13- 9 P.M.- $7
THE OSCILLATING FAN CLUB, JEECY & THE JUNGLE, AND ELEANORA

THE OSCILLATING FAN CLUB- Completely shakable rock n' roll - if people that couldn't dance still gyrated their bodies faux-uncontrolably this would be the soundtrack of the weekend. Basically if Dick Dale, Beck and Television all dropped acid on M-1 and had an orgy with Karen O.

JEECY & THE JUNGLE- Jeecy and the Jungle is an experience, like defibrillation is an experience. Their live show is a train-derailing stomp that will make the young sweat and the thirsty convulse. They have an electric chemistry for artists thrown together by equal parts dare and lost wagers. On their influences, the band admits looting their parents’ and grandparents’ record collections, and every decade since the thirties.

ELEANORA- Eleanora is an eclectic mix of various musical styles and flavors. It is the result of a collaboration between classically trained and self-taught musicians.

SATURDAY JUNE 14- 9 P.M.- $7
ROGUE SATELLITES (RECORD RELEASE), DUTCH PINK, AND SIAMESE

ROGUE SATELLITES- Detroit-based intergalactic synth-rock.SOCIAL ACTION HOUR

DUTCH PINK- Simply put, Dutch Pink is a damn fine rock-n-roll outfit. Dutch Pink began crafting their unique brand of literate, baroque blues in the spring of 2004, and after 10 years in the musical trenches, is in the midst of making people take notice. The band’s sound has been described as “a twisted-indie fed take on American roots music.” (Metro Times) and “equally balladeers of the bleak, blunt and gothic as they are weavers of hypnotic minor-key-lingering blues.” (Real Detroit Weekly)

SIAMESE- Synthy, well-produced pop-rock.

SUNDAY JUNE 15- 9 P.M.- $5
THE PHILTER, HAPPY FANGS, AND J. WALKER & THE CROSSGUARDS

THE PHILTER- Midwestern surf-gaze, further defined by lush swells of ambient sound and dark, melancholy lyrical content.

HAPPY FANGS- Happy Fangs' live shows juxtapose strong black and white visuals with their contrasting pop meets rock sound. Each show is a flurry of enthusiasm, loud guitars, hard-hitting drums, and singularity—the trio writes an original song on stage based on an audience's suggestion. Some people say rock is making a comeback. Happy Fangs is proof that rock-n-roll is here to stay. THE FACEBOOK

J. WALKER & THE CROSSGUARDS- After Listening to a bunch of soul music, J. Walker wrote some tunes. The Result was a single on the Beehive Recording Co. Shortly There after The Crossguards began playing shows all over Detroit.
