PHOTOS & REVIEW: The Wombats with Morning parade and Get People at the Crofoot September 21

PHOTOS & REVIEW: The Wombats with Morning Parade and Get People at the Crofoot September 21 by Jacob Giampa

The Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac put on an awesome night of music with a bunch of rockers from across the sea - The Wombats along with Morning Parade and Get People.

Swedish three piece Get People kicked off the night with a 60's swagger. This band is the kind of band that would be the anthem to a road trip montage. Take note though that the over use of the electronic voice effect, it was awesome at first but after a song or two it just got old. Next up was Morning Parade who gave me this smashing pumpkins vibe for some reason but it worked. The band had such high energy the whole show you could just tell that they were playing with all they had till the end. Morning Parade was just featured on the Tonight Show to promote their self titled release "Morning Parade" that came out this past June.

The crowd had been slowly building all night in anticipation of The Wombats' unique blend of alternative rock / dance music.

As the band took the stage the place erupted with applause and didn't stop shaking the ballroom of The Crofoot for over an hour.

I am a photographer not a writer - but if I was there would have to be few paragraphs describing all the hot sweaty 19 year old girls pounding the pavement with every ounce of energy they had.

This is the type of night where you had to claim your space on the dance floor and as I was being pushed and prodded by a very attractive young mistress I decided to "prance" away to the other side of the room for an alternate angle from my lense.  After a few shots (at the bar) I proceeded to hook a few more shots of the show.  Little did I know that the young mistress had her hooks in me and evidently had followed my path to the other side.

After a few more shots (you figure out which ones) we moved on outside to talk missing the end of The Wombats set but I scored a few digits scribbled on napkin - 966-2287

Still with 17 shows left on the tour The Wombats have a long time before they go home and it doesn't look like they are getting tired anytime soon.
